Education Team

Allyson Smith
Technology Specialist

Technology will be completely integrated into the everyday classrooms at GWA. Basic computer skills will be taught by your children’s teachers as students use computers to learn to spell, do math, and study science.

They will create slide shows, program computer games, and make web pages as part of their regular learning process. As the technology specialist I will work with teachers, helping them create an engaging environment using technology to deepen learning and create excitement about learning while occasionally also teaching the students. I also look forward to working with parents to assist with the online Gems Learning Gateway and other technology skills. Look out for my announcements for parent workshops!

I call New York City (USA) home though I have lived in Baltimore (GO RAVENS!) for the last ten years. I grew up moving all over the United States including Chicago and New Orleans – I make a great Jambalaya. I have always blended a love of technology and art. I studied at the top art and film schools in the United States and ran IT departments at major record labels before turning to teaching. My son (who is entering 6th grade this year at GAA) has come with me to AD and is as excited as I am to be embarking on this great adventure.

I am a gallery artist and show my work regularly in Baltimore, I hope to continue to do so in AD.
