Kahturah Hodsman

Kindergarten 1 Teacher

 Hello, my name is Kahturah Hodsman and I am from Toronto, Canada. This is my 1st year at GWA where I will be working as a KG1 teacher. Over the course of my 15 years working in Pre-K and KG I have strived to create an inclusive classroom using all facets of the community: the children, their families and my colleagues. 

My background in education consists of a 4 year degree in Early Childhood Education from Ryerson University, in Toronto. In addition, I have completed a number of courses in Early Childhood Music Education I have traveled, studied and lived in various parts of the world where I encountered and worked with children from many diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in a variety of educational contexts. I have a background in dance, storytelling and early childhood music education, which has allowed for me to facilitate young children’s learning using creative, inclusive and engaging approaches.

Since 2000, I have worked full-time at The Ryerson Early Learning Centre lab school. I had the opportunity to participate in writing the curriculum and developing the program over the course of my time there. In addition to my work with young children, I have also worked as a practicum field educator to adult students studying in the field of early childhood education. I have supported and mentored countless adult learners in the profession of early childhood education. I am looking forward to a fantastic year ahead at GWA and anticipate working and establishing strong connections with children, families and my colleagues!
