KG1 to Grade 5

Throughout the curriculum, our goals are to:
- Establish a firm foundation in the core subjects of Language, Math, Social Studies and Science
- Enrich the curriculum through specialist classes that connect to the Units of Inquiry, including Arabic, the Arts, Technology, Library, Islamic Education for Muslim students, and Personal, Social and Physical Education
- Enable students to develop their own international mindedness through the Learner Profile and the opportunity to take action
- Respond to the individual intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs of students

Departments and Subjects
Students attend specialist classes at least once during the school week with the exception of Arabic Department and PE classes which are conducted more often. A brief description follows each specialist class:
Music:Sing, say, dance, and play! That’s what it’s all about it music class. Music begins in KG1, wherein students learn to use the instrument they are given at birth: their voice! Students will explore body percussion sounds and later develop skills on various percussion instruments. Movement will also be used as a means to explore creative expression and collaboration with peers. Students will also gain knowledge of the rhythmic and melodic structure of music, which will help them improvise and compose their own musical ideas.
Media Literacy/Library begins in KG1 wherein students attend classes given by the Library Manager with a focus on the structure and different elements an Author uses to write a book. In the upper grades, they will discuss plagiarism and many other important requirements they will reqquire as they progress through school life. Students have the chance to check out books from the library. All students can take out books using their library cards. The library is open until 3.30pm most days to allow parents with students to visit after school.
Art classes begin in the Art Room for KG1 wherein students explore art in many ways. They participate in creative art with clay and other materials as well as participating in field trips to various museums in the local area. Our Art teacher ensures that projects are tied in with the Unit of Inquiry being studied within the homeroom class.
Physical Education begins in KG1 wherein students participate in various activities including sports and games.
Arabic/Islamic Education consists of Arabic Language Learning required by the Ministry of Education for all students to participate in the class beginning in KG1. Students are taught this language according to their abilities and whether they are a native or non-native ARabic speaker.
Islamic Study is a mandatory requirement by the Ministry of Education if parents indicate at time of registration the student is of the Islamic faith.
