Assistant Principal/PYP Coordinator, Leadership Team
Neil is the Assistant Principal at GEMS World Academy. This is a return to Abu Dhabi for Neil and he is very much looking forward to joining our community.
Neil joins our team after a seven year tenure as the Early and Primary Years Principal at GEMS World Academy (Singapore). Prior to this role, Neil was the Deputy Principal for four years at another established IB school in Singapore.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Neil’s career path has taken him to different parts of the world. He studied in the United States and in the UK before beginning his journey in international education. Neil’s leadership spans various roles in Abu Dhabi and Singapore, in both established IB continuum schools, as well as brand new schools. Neil has been instrumental in developing the foundations that need to be in place for successful start-up schools.
Neil holds a Bachelor’s (Hons) degree in Science Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management (specialising in Leadership, Policy and Change) from Monash University in Australia. He has also recently completed a Harvard Business School Certificate in School Management & Leadership. Neil is passionate about the value of an IB education and is a member of the International Baccalaureate Educator Network (IBEN). His support of the IB in Asia-Pacific has included leading teacher training as a workshop leader, being a visiting team member for IB school accreditations, as well as supporting new schools in their implementation of the programme as a school consultant.
Neil brings to the GEMS World Academy community, a wealth of experience, insight and more importantly, a passion for high-quality education for all. He is a dedicated and highly motivated leader who is committed to ensuring that staff, students and parents have the best possible opportunities and experience. Neil promotes and values a positive school culture where everyone is included, heard and valued.
