INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE CAREER-RELATED PROGRAMME (IBCP)
A unique pathway that combines academic study with real-world, career-focused learning.
About
IBCP

The International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) is designed for students who want to combine academic study with practical, career-related learning.
At WAA, the IBCP blends the academic rigour of the IB Diploma Programme with specialised career pathways that allow students to explore their interests and future aspirations.
Students study selected IB Diploma subjects alongside a career-related qualification while also completing the IBCP core, which develops essential skills such as critical thinking, intercultural understanding, ethical decision-making and professional communication.
This balanced approach ensures students graduate with the confidence, knowledge and skills needed for university, employment, and meaningful participation in a global society.
Welcome from our
IBCP Coordinator
At GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi, we believe every student deserves a pathway that reflects their strengths, interests and future ambitions. The IB Career-related Programme offers exactly that, a dynamic combination of academic study and career-focused learning that connects the classroom to the real world.
What makes the CP truly distinctive is its focus on the human skills that matter most: critical thinking, collaboration, communication, ethical decision-making and reflection. These are not skills that can be memorised or replaced by technology. They are developed through experience, dialogue, and meaningful engagement with others.
In an era shaped by rapid technological change and artificial intelligence, the CP prepares students not only with knowledge, but with the mindset, adaptability, and integrity needed to thrive.
As CP Coordinator and a member of the Secondary Leadership Team, it is a privilege to support students as they discover their passions, grow in confidence and develop into thoughtful young adults ready to shape their futures.

WELCOME FROM OUR
CAREER & FUTURE PATHWAYS COORDINATOR
At GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi, we believe that preparing students for life beyond school is a journey, not a destination. Our Careers and Future Pathways Programme is designed to support studentsfrom the earliest years of secondary school, encouraging them to discover who they are before asking them to decide who they want to become. By exploring their strengths, interests, values, andaspirations, students develop the confidence and self-awareness to make informed decisions about their future with purpose and clarity.
A key strength of our programme is the breadth of opportunities available to our students and families. Through personalised guidance, university and industry engagement, alumni connections, parenteducation, and career exploration, we create meaningful experiences that inspire curiosity, encourage informed decision-making, and prepare students for life beyond school.
No two students follow the same pathway, and that is something we celebrate. Whether a student has a clear vision for their future or is only beginning to explore what is possible, my role is to walkalongside them, offering guidance, encouragement, and opportunities that help them grow in confidence and discover their own unique pathway.
I firmly believe that careers education is not simply about preparing students for university—it is about preparing them for the decisions that shape their future. By fostering a culture of exploration, reflection, and lifelong learning, we empower our students to embrace opportunities with confidence and become compassionate, globally minded individuals who are ready to thrive in an ever-changing world.
I am proud of the Careers and Future Pathways Programme we continue to build at GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi, and I look forward to partnering with our students and families as they explore, discover, and prepare for the exciting journey ahead.
Kind regards,
Almyra Duarte
