INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE CAREER-RELATED PROGRAMME (IBCP)

A unique pathway that combines academic study with real-world, career-focused learning.

About
IBCP

The International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) is designed for students who want to combine academic study with practical, career-related learning.

At WAA, the IBCP blends the academic rigour of the IB Diploma Programme with specialised career pathways that allow students to explore their interests and future aspirations.

Students study selected IB Diploma subjects alongside a career-related qualification while also completing the IBCP core, which develops essential skills such as critical thinking, intercultural understanding, ethical decision-making and professional communication.

This balanced approach ensures students graduate with the confidence, knowledge and skills needed for university, employment, and meaningful participation in a global society.

*GEMS World Academy - Abu Dhabi is a Candidate School for the IB Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorisation as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy, a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that GEMS World Academy - Abu Dhabi believes is important for our students.

Welcome from our
IBDP Coordinator

At GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi, we believe every student deserves a pathway that reflects their strengths, interests and future ambitions. The IB Career-related Programme offers exactly that, a dynamic combination of academic study and career-focused learning that connects the classroom to the real world.

What makes the CP truly distinctive is its focus on the human skills that matter most: critical thinking, collaboration, communication, ethical decision-making and reflection. These are not skills that can be memorised or replaced by technology. They are developed through experience, dialogue, and meaningful engagement with others.

In an era shaped by rapid technological change and artificial intelligence, the CP prepares students not only with knowledge, but with the mindset, adaptability, and integrity needed to thrive.

As CP Coordinator and a member of the Secondary Leadership Team, it is a privilege to support students as they discover their passions, grow in confidence and develop into thoughtful young adults ready to shape their futures.
