Kate Bradley

Vice Principal and Head of Secondary
Kate Bradley

Kate Bradley is the Vice Principal and Head of Secondary at GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi. A Durham University graduate and an English teacher by training, Kate brings over 15 years of senior leadership experience across the UK, UAE, Switzerland, and Jordan. Her career has been shaped by a commitment to building schools where academic excellence, strong relationships, and a sense of purpose sit side by side.

Kate has led the founding and development of Secondary and whole school provision in a range of international contexts, with a particular focus on thoughtful curriculum design, high-quality teaching and learning, and leadership structures that support reflection and continuous improvement. She has supported schools through accreditation and inspection processes, developed boarding and pastoral frameworks, and driven sustained improvement in standards, attendance, and student outcomes. Through this work, she has supported young people to progress to some of the world’s leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, and MIT, as well as a wide range of highly selective global destinations.

Kate values scholarship deeply and believes in the power of strong academic foundations. At the same time, she is clear that education must go beyond examination results alone. She is motivated by the firm belief that schools should help young people discover who they are, what they care about, and how they can contribute to something bigger than themselves. Grounded in the principles of the IB, her work centres on developing confident, reflective, and compassionate learners who are equipped not only to succeed, but to make a positive difference in the world around them.

Kate is known for building high-performing, collaborative teams and for working closely with parents, governing bodies, and wider communities. She leads with warmth, clarity, and high expectations, and is deeply committed to creating school cultures where both young people and adults feel supported, challenged, and genuinely valued.

sabah_WAA_

I am proud to be part of GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi as the Head of Lower School and Lead IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator. Building connections with the WAA community has been incredibly rewarding. My journey in education has taken me across diverse learning environments, where I’ve focused on creating inclusive communities, managing change, and shaping curriculum policy, including bilingual and environmental programming.

My passion lies in place-based learning, encouraging hands-on and minds-on experiences. I love collaborating with faculty, parents, and local businesses to create meaningful opportunities enriching learning. As a published children’s book author of Upside Down, a rhyming tale about nature and perseverance, I believe in the power of storytelling to inspire others to share their voices.

Outside of work, I’m joined by my husband, Reza, our two children, Zahi and Aziz, and our dog, Pasha. I compete in dragon boat racing. I speak French and Urdu, and am expanding my Arabic. I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching from UC Irvine and a School Management and Leadership certificate from Harvard. As a member of the IB Educator Network, I also lead evaluations, workshops, and consult across the Americas, AEM, and Asia Pacific regions.
